Covid and Dirty Laundry

I have been a student long enough to know what the settling-in of a semester feels like.  That stabilizing feeling of having found the classrooms, introductions have been made, the good pens identified, books cracked open, the slight buzz permeating the campus of excitement coupled with fear.  Good stuff.

So naturally, the minute that feeling started seeping into the edges of my brain, my 18-year-old brought covid home along with his dirty laundry.  This has definitely seen a decline in my productivity and a significant increase in my napping through episodes of Gilmore Girls.

I will dig deep however for this class, as it does contain two of my favorite things:  food and words.  This semester I am excited to dive further into the connection of how our language impacts how and what we eat.  But mostly excited about the eating.  Oh, the eating of the good food!
