Research Project Idea

There are some things a child version existing makes sense.  Tiny socks for instance.  First, off they are just adorable and secondly one needs small socks for small feet.  Food is not one of those things.  Other than infant formula, there isn't a single food product on the market that is necessary for the continued existence of the youngsters of our country.  Thanks to some seriously clever marketing staffers, American parents are bamboozled into believing that their precious cargo can't consume anything that doesn't have the title of their current developmental phase pasted on the box.

My Question

Do companies produce food stuffs marketed for the consumption of children that they also sell in a non-kid version? For instance, does a soup company produce a chicken noodle soup and then sell the same product as a "childs" and "adult" version.

My Method

Using a combination of in-person and online shopping, I will identify at least five of these products. I will compare/contrast packaging, labels, advertising, and contents.

My Predictions

I'm predicting I will find several products that meet the above criteria and that the child's version will cost more per ounce than the adult version. I also predict that key-words will be chosen that appeal to the parent but the images will appeal to the child.
